About Us
Süleyman Demirel University’s Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences was established in 1993, admitted its first students in the 1993–1994 academic year, and has since continued its educational activities. The Department’s primary objective is to educate well-equipped and creative undergraduate and graduate students who possess nationally and internationally competitive knowledge and skills across all areas of chemistry, adhere to the principles of scientific research, and can respond to the country’s interests and societal needs. Its vision is to nurture knowledgeable, experienced individuals through a staff that continually develops itself in education, teaching, and research, and to rank among respected, widely recognized departments nationally and internationally. Its mission is to train successful students at the undergraduate and graduate levels who are capable of international collaboration, keep pace with technological advances, think critically, possess interdisciplinary practical skills, are aware of ethical principles, are environmentally responsible, entrepreneurial, and respectful, while contributing to the nation’s development through high-quality scientific studies and research. As of 2024, the Department conducts its programs with 18 faculty members, 3 Research Assistants, and 1 Lecturer, offering innovative undergraduate education and high-quality graduate programs that confer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees across analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry, and organic chemistry.
