Introduction

Geophysical engineering is mainly related to the exploration of natural sources like hydrocarbon, mine etc., determining the reservoir properties, surface and groundwater, geothermal, investigation of archeological an environmental, and site selection for all engineering structures, soil investigation, earthquake and other natural disasters. A student graduated from this department is called geophysical engineer who is capable all the issues counted above.

The aim of this department is to train the engineers who will be able to search earth’s crust, underground substances, oil, geothermal energy, underground water and industrial substances by gravitational, magnetic, electrical and seismic methods and analyze these data with computer programs.

Graduates are titled as ‘geophysics engineers’ and can find job opportunities in state and private institutions, geology/ geophysics firms doing ground study, construction firms doing geotechnical works, mine companies, underground water exploraiton firms.
